Regulatory Compliance Inspection
Regulatory compliance inspection is NDT carried out specifically to satisfy a regulatory, contractual or specification obligation, with the documentation that obligation demands. The technical work is the same as any other inspection; what distinguishes it is that the record must satisfy a third party — a rail authority, an auditor or a client's assurance function.
Why regulatory compliance inspection matters
Operators of rail and industrial assets are required to demonstrate that safety-critical items have been examined and found fit. In practice the inspection and the evidence of it are equally important: work that was done but poorly documented can fail an audit as surely as work that was never done. Reporting formatted to the specification the authority actually uses avoids findings, re-inspection and delayed sign-off.

Common questions
Will the report be in the format our authority requires?
Reporting is matched to the specification in force for the work, which is confirmed before inspection starts. A technically sound inspection reported in the wrong format still creates an audit problem, so this is agreed up front.
What qualifications support the inspection?
Compliance work depends on the personnel and the organisation holding the relevant qualifications and licences for the methods used — including, for radiography, the licensing that governs the use of radiation sources.
How quickly can documentation be produced after inspection?
Results are captured digitally in the field rather than transcribed later from paper, so reporting is not held up waiting for site paperwork to be returned and re-entered.
Where we deliver it
MPIA Services is based in Durban (also known as eMkhomazi), KwaZulu-Natal, and carries out regulatory compliance inspection on site across all nine South African provinces.
